Teens! Thanks for checking your page. Remember, it’s yours. Any news, title or program suggestions, brief book, movie or other reviews are welcome. Just e-mail them to jmartin@haywoodlibrary.org or cdennis@haywoodlibrary.org.
Thanks to Karen Kreitzburg of Waynesville Middle School Media Center. She not only let the Teen Advisory Board meet there after hours so Middle School teens could get involved but invited us back into the Café area. We munched on crackers, cheese, fruit and cupcakes as we discussed ideas for the year ahead. We’d like to do a once a month double-feature movie night. Also a CONCERT! We are looking for bands and contact names. We discussed making it a fund raiser so that we can purchase more new teen books, movies and other good stuff. An “everyone wins” plan if we can find a great, fun band.
This is Teen Read Week and LOL is the again the theme. So if homework is starting to get you down come in and check our Lots of Laughs display.
What?s up with T.A.B? (10/08/07)
The library?s Teen Advisor Board began the 07-08 year
in September with a visit from our Webmaster. She asked a lot of great
questions to find out what kind of things young adults would like to see
when
they visit a library web page. Besides all the really important stuff
we agreed we wanted it to jump and sparkle!
Our October meeting will be held at Waynesville Middle School Media Center on the third Tuesday of the month as usual. That would be the 16th. We?ll meet there at 4:00, share some eats and get acquainted.
Since
this will be new for some, we'll talk a little about what a Teen Advisory
Board does and do some of it. We want to expand the number of titles we
have to offer you for one thing so bring a list of what you
want to read watch or listen to.
New Books and Displays
Right now we have a couple dozen books on display in the new book area of the Teen section and several more new YA titles in with new non-fiction up front.
Our young adult display across from the circulation desk is featuring three different groups of titles this month: a special selection of titles for middle schoolers, excellent adult titles that would be great reading for older teens often because the main character is a teen, and a selection of Christian fiction for young adults.
