Step outside and enjoy the summer weather with this interactive storywalk. All month long, visit the Giving Garden at the Canton branch to read the pages of Bee Dance. Complete the storywalk and answer a question or two on the tracker form for a chance to win a special prize! It’s warming up outside and the Haywood County Public Library would like to invite you to join the Summer Reading fun! There’s something for all ages during the months of June and July. You’re invited to attend our in-person programs and performances, as well as pick up free take-and-make kits full of crafts and DIY projects. You can register for Summer Reading beginning June 1st and pick up your challenge sheets and starter bags at all library locations. There will be lots of great prizes for those who participate in the reading challenges! Young readers, children, teens, and adults who finish will have a chance to win one of our grand prize gift baskets, full of great goodies and passes! Summer Reading ends on July 29th.

Can’t get to the zoo? Don’t let that stop you from having a wildly fun time with the Knoxville Zoo! The Zoomobile will be coming out for a special program, where educators and animal ambassadors will teach you all about some amazing animals. Move & Groove is an exciting, interactive music and movement storytime ideal for children 2 to 6 years. This program occurs every Thursday at the Canton branch from 10:30-11:00 AM. All storytimes will be held outside unless there is poor weather, so feel free to bring a blanket to sit on. Don't let the risk of getting lost or bears, blisters, snakes and storms prevent you from enjoying yourself on a hike. With the guidance of Nancy East, author and Haywood County Wilderness Search and Rescue team member, empower yourself with the knowledge and skills to stay "safe and found" and enjoy your time on trail without hesitation. The second Family Garden Workshop is all about planting for pollinators. In this session, we will explore planting with a purpose for birds, bees, and butterflies. Participants will take home a plant to support pollinators in their home garden. The adult portion of the program will be led by Master Gardener volunteer Marcia Tate, while the youth will do some fun activities with the librarian. This workshop is great for adults and families with children of all ages. Space is limited, so registration is required.
