[ARCHIVED] Public debris removal complete, additional roadside TS Fred debris will not be picked up

Public debris removal complete, additional roadside debris will not be picked up

This week marked the 6-month anniversary of the flooding resulting from Tropical Storm Fred. In that time, significant progress has been made in cleaning up flood debris and restoring flood-damaged areas of our community.

The final community-wide debris removal pass that began back in late November was mostly completed by the end of December. Some smaller pickup runs have happened since then to accommodate ongoing demolition projects. With those now completed, official debris removal operations have ceased.

As of Friday, February 18, all roadside debris pickup is now complete. Any debris placed on the roadside after this date will not be eligible for pickup.

As of the date of this release over 69,000 cubic yards of debris (enough to fill the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool twice) have been removed from Haywood County properties.

Approved critical stream debris removal has been completed. Other stream debris removal projects will continue if/when other State and Federal programs or funding are approved.

As of this release, over 11,000 cubic yards of waterway debris have been removed.

Residents should dispose of:
