Haywood County Environmental Health permits, inspects, and tests private drinking water wells. Environmental Health Specialists will help you site a new well to ensure a safe distance from any potential sources of contamination, will observe the construction and grouting of the well to prevent contamination, and will obtain water samples to ensure that the water from the well is safe and potable.
The cost of a well permit is $375. In the case of a well that has become inoperable and needs replacing a permit can be obtained for $175. Checks can be made payable to Haywood County Environmental Health.
Haywood County Health and Human Services is an equal opportunity provider and employer.
